Can we talk for a minute about the power of custom GPTs?

Yesterday I saw an Instagram ad for a “business-plan + app creator GPT” that promises results "in just 15 minutes". I almost wanted to buy the course — that’s a fast business ramp-up even in the age of AI. 😅

Selling a Custom GPT

You can’t price a custom GPT like an app yet, but you can bundle it with services. Also, monetization is already coming in the form of "creator payment programs" in selected regions.

GPT monetization is a compelling business idea because creating one requires very little. For that same reason tho, the market will likely get crowded quickly.

Probably not going to make me a billionaire, but I’ve built a few custom GPTs myself:

» Hypotheses — hypothesis creator for digital products

» Market Researcher — discovery tool for new product spaces

» Legal Docs — assistant for standard product/legal paperwork

» Food GPT — a “chef” that guides groceries and recipes

Getting The Most Out of Your ChatGPT Subscription

Compared with a regular chat, custom GPTs cut to the chase: you define outputs and inject context (templates, docs, or guidelines). This allows you to skip the usual back-and-forth while chatting with it later.

The depth is great when you combine Custom GPT with Thinking mode. I still underuse it and too often jump to “New chat”.

How to build one (if you haven't already)?

Go to GPTs, then click Create and define / upload:

» Audience / purpose

» Intended outcome

» Materials (context)

» Edges (guardrails).
